Petrova vas is a settlement to the north of Črnomelj in the Bela Krajina area of southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]

The local church is dedicated to John the Baptist (Slovene: Sveti Janez Krstnik) and belongs to the Črnomelj parish. It is first mentioned in written documents dating to 1526, but has been extensiveley altered over the centuries.[3]
